Expanding Your Horizons. Building Connections. Your Life, Your Community.
Life is meant to be shared, explored, and enjoyed. At Supportive Hands Disability Services, our community participation support goes beyond simply getting you out of the house. We focus on connecting you with the people, places, and activities across Geelong that bring you joy, build your confidence, and help you live a vibrant, socially connected life.

NDIS Registration Group 0125: Social and Community Participation
This support is funded under your NDIS Core Supports or Capacity Building budgets. It is designed to cover the cost of a dedicated support worker to accompany you as you learn new hobbies, build friendships, and engage in local civic life.
Our approach follows a strength-based model: we walk alongside you as an encouraging peer, helping you break through social anxiety and physical barriers so you can actively shape your own social calendar.

Recreational & Leisure Goals: Doing the Things You Truly Love
Having fun is an essential part of wellbeing. We support you to access local events, hobbies, and sports programs that spark your interest:
- Sports & Inclusive Recreation: From joining local swimming groups, bowling leagues, and gym sessions to attending live sporting events across Victoria.
- Arts, Culture & Entertainment: Attending live music gigs, cinema sessions, theatre productions, or visiting art exhibitions in Geelong.
- Outdoor & Nature Exploration: Enjoying relaxed, safe day trips to the parks, botanical gardens, and beautiful coastal beaches around the Surf Coast.

Everyday Social Connections: Building Long-Term Peer Friendships
Overcoming social isolation starts with regular, comfortable interactions. We help you find your community spaces:
- Local Clubs & Interest Groups: Helping you find and join local gaming groups, book clubs, cooking workshops, or community gardens.
- Dining & Cafe Outings: Meeting up with old friends or building the confidence to try new restaurants and local cafes.
- Peer Group Activities: Safely introducing you to other local NDIS participants who share your exact age group, culture, or interests.

Practical Life Skills & Civic Contribution: Growing Your Independence
Community participation is also a powerful pathway for personal growth, community contribution, and capacity building:
- Volunteering Pathways: Assisting you to find rewarding volunteer roles with local community centers, animal shelters, or charities.
- Everyday Skill Building: Learning to navigate local libraries, safely handle money during transactions, and confidently order meals.
- Local Event Access: Assisting you to attend local festivals, market days, and civic gatherings safely and comfortably.
Ready to Experience Everything Geelong Has to Offer?
Your social life shouldn’t have to wait. Supportive Hands operates with no active waitlists, allowing us to match you with an active, enthusiastic local support worker right away.

Why Choose Supportive Hands: The Real Value of Our Community Supports
We look beyond simple companion care to provide a highly meaningful, goal-oriented social experience in the Geelong and Mount Duneed areas:
- Personality-Matched Support Workers: We don’t just assign any worker. We look at your age, hobbies, and personality to pair you with someone you can genuinely bond with over shared interests.
- Capacity-Building Focus: Our team doesn’t take over your interactions. If you want to order food or introduce yourself to a new club, we step back and give you the room to do it, providing backup only when needed.
- Dynamic & Flexible Planning: Social opportunities don’t always happen between 9 AM and 5 PM. We adapt to your life—whether that means a weekend concert, an evening dinner, or a weekday class.
- Safe, Full-Circle Accompaniment: From the moment we pick you up at your front door to the moment you return home, your physical safety, sensory comfort, and emotional wellbeing are fully looked after.

Peace of Mind for Families: Inspiring Social Independence
Watching a loved one experience social isolation can be deeply challenging for families. Partnering with us brings a fresh wave of energy and independence into their routine:
- Positive Social Growth: Watching your family member build an authentic life, separate from their home routine, filled with new stories and genuine friendships.
- Safe, Trusted Outings: Rest easy knowing our workers are fully trained in managing sensory triggers, community mobility, and emotional support on the go.
- Balanced Family Respite: Enjoy guilt-free personal time or focus on work, knowing your loved one is out having an amazing time in the community.

Where We Connect You to the Community

- Across Regional Hubs: Exploring local historical landmarks, markets, and regional festivals throughout Victoria.
- In Your Immediate Neighborhood: Helping you map out, walk through, and feel fully familiar with the parks and spaces right around Mount Duneed.
